C O A C H E L L A

I could literally go on and on in this post, but honestly I'm not even sure where to begin. I suppose it really only comes down to three things, unbelievable music, unbelievable clothing and complete and utter bliss. Coachella, you proved to be everything I wanted you to be, and more, and I wish so badly you happened more than once a year. (Well, I suppose twice a year if you count both weekends.. but you get what I mean)

Here are a few tidbits of my euphoric weekend in the desert.

The first day a wore a high waisted black skirt, with a strapless black bathing suit top, black high top converse and a black brimmed hat. I wore my floral kimono over top just cause, hey, why the hell not?

The second day I wore a vintage lace dress with brown Steve Madden booties and Ray Ban aviators. I would have loved to have worn my hair down, but I was camping and it just was not in the cards for me that day... basically it looked like I had slept in the grass.
I would actually not recommend wearing anything with even a small heel... to say I ended the day in pain would be an understatement.

One thing I really loved about the weekend, was it was almost impossible to capture the actual beauty of what was around me. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't do the scenery justice within a photo, but I liked that. You had to be there to experience it, to truly understand it. It's an experience I will never forget.
You did me well Coachella... Until next time.

3 BEST LIPSTICK DUPES

I am a lipstick girl though and through. A lot of the time I almost feel under-dressed without it on. The thing about lipstick, though, is it can be pricey, and although I try to force everyone in my life to wear it, there are times when the price-tag holds them back. Since I am a problem solver, I decided to try to eliminate all excuses. I spent some time last night at Shoppers Drug Mart finding the absolute best dupes for three of my favourite M.A.C. shades. These were the three I found, and the best part is, they were truly a third of the cost!
Here you go ladies, no more excuses. Colour them lips!!!

SPRING FAVOURITES

Nothing excites me more than warmth after a winter from hell, so thank heavens we are finally experiencing some. I think we can all rejoice and agree that spring took her sweet-ass time to swing by Toronto, and we have never been happier to see her. It's the most glorious feeling to be able to ditch the parka and finally opt for something lighter! Ok, now that I have that vent session out of the way, let's talk clothes. There are a few items that have been burning holes in my closet all winter long, and I'm so happy to finally start wearing them. Due to the longest, coldest winter in the history of my Toronto life, I have decided that I am unapologetically going to outfit repeat like crazy because some of these things should have been worn a lot earlier. sorrynotsorry.

Here are a few of my Spring Favourites this year...

STRAPPY SANDALS
ok, sorry, I'm obsessed. I just bought a pair, and even though I wear heels more than I probably should, and I had to take it slow. The heel on them is quite skinny and because of this, they are a bit difficult to walk in, but paired with a cute boyfriend jean, or any light wash denim, they are honestly worth the risk of an ankle sprain.

BRIMMED HATS
I really have loved brimmed hats for a long time, but have never found one that worked on me! Ironically, I found this one at Target... so I bought it in three colours... oops. I definitely think they will be a staple for spring and summer.

STRUCTURED TOTE BAGS IN BEIGE OR BLACK
I feel like tote bags weren't really around for a while there, most of us opting for a smaller bag, with a long shoulder strap, but I definitely think they are joining us again for spring. They are simple and classy and perfect for the working girl... (I use the word 'working' loosely)

SHEER FLORAL KIMONOS

I'm kind of dying over this trend. I just bought one and I feel like when I throw it on, it automatically makes my outfit more fun. I definitely think we will see a lot of these this spring and summer.

MATCHING CROP/SKIRT COMBOS

I love this. I think it's adorable and classy. It definitely doesn't need to be done with a skirt though, a cute crop/high waisted shorts combo would be just as perfect.

FIRST SPRING OUTFIT

Before you assume based on this outfit that I am delusional or haven't noticed this sick joke that Mother Nature has been playing on us weather-wise, don't worry, I am quite aware.... I am merely ignoring Mother Nature and posting spring outfits when they should be posted. I'm sorry but it is pretty much April....seriously.... does she not understand the concept of limits! I feel like my sanity is only partially left after this winter from hell, and I know I'm not alone on that one. Regardless of the fact that it snowed today, I will be venturing to the west coast in a couple of weeks so I've decided to start being optimistic and have been putting together some fun, flirty, spring outfits before the weather permits.

American Eagle bandau, vintage Calvin Klein shorts, Target hat (I know right!?) Lia Sofia cuff
The floral kimono is from an online store that will be opening soon, I will post the site once it's up!

IT'S FASHION WEEK

It's that time of year again, when the fashionistas of the city put together their most impressive outfits and air kiss each other for five days straight... World Master Card Fashion Week.
I had the opportunity to see the David Dixon show last night, for the unveiling of his first wedding gown line -- White Label for Kleinfeld Hudson's Bay -- and to be a little blunt... I wasn't impressed.
I just feel like the designs were lackluster... I wanted to be blown away, and more-so I wanted to see a glimpse of the idea that Canadian fashion could perhaps, one day, play in the same league as European fashion... and for me... it just wasn't great.
But of course that didn't stop me from drinking champagne, and doing the kind of people watching you can only do at a Fashion Week fashion show.

I had to race home from work and get ready in about 30 minutes, which pissed me off to say the least, but once I got my first cocktail in me, I mellowed right out.
I wore a white Hugo Boss dress shirt, Cello dark jeans, a Vera Moda leather jacket, Boutique9 heels, a Target hat and a gold Aldo chain. My bag was vintage, and so were my rings. I paired it all with Impassioned lipstick by M.A.C.

WHITE BLACK & GOLD

I was asked to be the lookbook model for a new online store launching in April, and just recently had the shoot. It was such a fab day of fashion and make-up and fun, which are all things that make me happy. I may or may not have inhaled three big pieces of pizza the second the shoot was over, but that's neither here nor there. Here are some behind the scenes from the shoot!

B L A N K E T . S C A R F

After searching for, more-or-less the entire winter I have finally found the perfect oversized plaid blanket scarf. What's even better than finding it before winter is actually over (which let me tell you, happens A LOT) is it's vintage! Which in my language means, "as close to 'one of a kind' as I'm probably going to get" And that makes me a happy girl.

It's extremely large, and cozy, and given our current Canadian weather situation, is perfect for everyday. I paired it with my black Burberry trench, which (weather permitting) may actually start making appearances out on the town soon. Fingers crossed that this is the end of the cold spell!!
